Heritage homestay near Marari beach

This homestay is a 140 year old wooden building rebuilt three years ago. The homestay is situated in a peaceful and quiet village Mararikulam, near Marari Beach. Marari Beach is an endless vista of sand and surf but it is more an authentic experience of the world of villages and a recreation of an ancient harmonious way of life. Marari Beach is an endless-golden-sands usually touted for their peace and quiet ambience. The village of Mararikulam lies on a beautiful sea shore and beyond is a milk-and azure ocean fringed by a beach more ochre than yellow, a sand-meets-sea combination you're not likely to find anywhere else. Marari beach is shallow, calm and is ideal for swimming & sunbathing. Enjoy a game of beach volley ball & take a dip in the sea. One could really feel the warmth of the golden rays of sunset in front and Dolphins which are occasionally seen here. The calm of the beach and amazing view is not all we have to offer. We believe that not only relaxation for the body and mind but also the experience of wholesome tranquility.

Great place to unwind. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay for two weeks here. It is located in a real fisherman's village, so you get a very good impression of what life is in an Indian village. The beach is just 5 minutes walkable distance. It is one of the best places ever visited.

One of our three rooms did not have an AC though we were promised that one will be fitted before our arrival. We had hardly any interaction with the host (Anil) and his family apart from money related matters. Our needs were taken care by two excellent helpers, Michael and Akkie. The location of the homestay is not convenient for restaurants which is why we ended up eating twice at the homestay. All the food was very disappointing as it was extremely poor value for money - it was costly at 250 Rs per head as it was made with cheap ingredients and not very tasty. The meals were nicer and cheaper at local three star hotels. We could not help but feel that all that the host and his family were interested in was to make money from us. It was certainly not a \"home away from home\" Special thanks to the helpers, Michael and in particularly Akkie as they went all out of their way to make us feel comfortable.
