Thodupuzha is an ancient town and a municipality in Idukki district of Kerala. The word âthoduâ (meaning touch) and âpuzhaâ (meaning river) referring to the town touching the river. It is the largest town in the district and also its commercial center.
History
Thodupuzha is an ancient town with history dating back to 300 BC when Buddhism and Jainism first made inroads into Kerala.The area has several Buddhist relics worth visiting.
Location
Thodupuzha is 62km south east of Kochi and 200 kms from the state capital Trivandrum. It has excellent roads connecting it to the rest of the State. The Kottayam railway station, 55 kms away is the nearest railway station and the nearest airport is Cochin International Airport at 54 kms distance.
