History
Shimla a popular hillstation in North India and is the capital of Himachal Pradesh. It derives its name from Goddess Shyamala Devi. In 1819 after the Gurkha War, it was annexed by the British. The cool hill station became an escape for the British elite and civil servants. Since then, it has been attracting guests of all backgrounds.

Fresh and juicy fruits are grown in many orchards in and around Shimla. So these are integral to the meals of the region. The regional native food is simple, healthy and filling as a lot of walking is involved, energy providing dishes are preferred. But dishes common across the world are also easily found.
